👀 3 RARE GILDED ENGRAVED ST LOUIS STYLE RABAT No 4 10cm TEA GLASS UNSIGNED CUT TO CLEAR, …..AMETHYST, COBALT BLUE or EMERALD GREEN.

These heavy little St. Louis style Rabat Tea Glasses are full in intricacy and interest...commanding that you look closely....quite the little show-offs. I believe them to be St. Louis before 1950 when based were always etched. Before 1950 it was not always the case. Please see photo...

I listed them as “att” (attributed) as they are not signed…but as you can see they have all the attributes of superb quality.

Also I I have photographed another couple of comparisons. All I can suggest is that these were early models which were adjusted as time went on….. (Please let me know if you have information that might help my accuracy of information!!)

They are amethyst, emerald green and cobalt blue, cut to clear with gilded top edges and around the oval thumbprints with a midriff centreline of raised gilded bridges over and around them. This his done by hand. The thumbprints are long optic smooth concave cuts and give a textured look and feel to the glass.

The top half of the glass is engraved and 24ct gold filled in art nouveau style scrolling in fine detail.

I found this when I did some research on Google......”until the 1950”s Saint Louis glass was not systematically stamped”. These three glasses are not stamped but I believe them to be St. Louis...they are exceptional quality.

The base is fully star cut..... I have spoken to another seller who informed me their’s were not signed either.

Please check on google for St Louis Rabat glass comparisons.

Not all crystal is created equal; Saint-Louis is one of its foremost creators.

For years, the workshop made glass in relative anonymity. Then in 1767, King Louis XV bestowed on it the prestigious name of Cristallerie royale de Saint-Louis. Soon, Saint-Louis crystal glasses were raised to the lips of the aristocracy and its multitiered chandeliers sparkled above the heads of the French nobility. (Chandeliers, initially created from wood in the Middle Ages and then Venetian glass during the Renaissance, were later realized in crystal, with Saint-Louis producing its first in 1837—a special commission from the royal court.) “In the 19th century, it was very important to have crystal,” explains de Lavergnolle. “No one could imagine to dress a table without crystal.”

Saint-Louis crystal vibrates with all the talent it has inherited over the centuries. Today, 200 artisans repeat the gestures of their ancestors, who in 1781 discovered the magic formula of crystal: adding lead to the composition of glass making Saint-Louis the very first crystal manufacturer of continental Europe. Several employees represent the seventh generation of their families to work in the cristallerie.
