Growing

Soak the seeds overnight (12hrs) and sow two or three seeds 2.5cm (1in) deep indoors in a pot of compost using a propagator from mid March to late April at 21-25C (70-77F).  Keep the compost moist but not water logged. It may take two to four weeks for germination. Thin the seedlings to leave the strongest one.

Plant the seedling outdoors after hardening off (acclimatising) in late May to early June when it is at least 6 inch tall. Protect it from slugs and snails.
