The Cutimed Sorbact Anti-Microbial Wound Dressing is the first of its kind which chemically binds microbes to itself irreversibly removing bacteria and fungi from the wounded area. To do so, Cutimed Sorbact uses a technology  known as DACC (or Dialkylcarbamoylchlorid), a fatty acid which coats all wound dressings.

How does Cutimed Sorbact Anti-Microbial Wound Dressing employ DACC technology?

As a fatty acid, the DACC coating on the Cutimed Sorbact is neutraly charged and therefore water repelant, or hydrophobic. Most bacteria or fungi found within a wound express the same hydrophobic  properties around their cell surface.

Cutimed Sorbact uses the 'cell surface hydrophobicity' (CSH) in conjunction with its own strong hydrophobic properties to draw microbes away from the wound and onto itself. Hence, in a moist environment, bacteria and fungi will necessarily associate with the Cutimed Sorbact Wound Dressing, becoming irreversibly bound to it. This way, Cutimed Sorbact is able to absorb entire colonies, neutalizing or reversing infections in the process.

Cutimed Sorbact Anti-Microbial Wound Dressing indications:

Cutimed Sorbact is very effective on all wounds where the primary goal is to reduce the bacterial burden, regardless of their aetiology. This includes:

Depending on the volume of exudate, Cutimed Sorbact can easily be combined with amorphous hydrogels, such as Sorbact Gel, or various types of secondary dressings such as:
