About Maker :    Springer & Co

In 1815 Rudolf & Eugen Haideinger founded a porcelain factory in Loket, Czech Republic (Elbogen, Bohemia Austria) as a branch of their Vienna, Austria factory. It was named Haideinger Brothers Porcelain Factory in Elbogen, it was also known as Vienna Porcelain and Earthenware Factory of Haideinger Brothers.  In 1828 their brother Karl joined the business.
In 1873 the business was sold to Springer & Oppenheimer following the Haideinger brothers deaths. It change the name to  First Elbogen Porcelain and Coal Industry.
In 1885 it became Springer & Co when Oppenheimer left.

In 1918 it was one of the original members of the OEPIAG/EPIAG.. OEPIAG loosely translates from German (Österreichische Porzellan-Industrie A.G.)  as “ Austrian Porcelain Industry Association “ . The organization was promoting and investing in Bohemian Porcelain. In 1919 Bohemia became part of independent new state of Czechoslovakia.

There were initially 4 companies and more joined before WWII.

In 1945, it was nationalized along with the other EPIAG factories and merged into Starorolský Porcelán. In 1958, Starorolský Porcelán merged into Karlovarský Porcelán.

Factory in Loket still in operation today as part of Thun ( Karlovarský Porcelán ) .

It would be a fabulous addition to a teapot collection .
