Glamor vintage 1950's wiggle dress with side drape
label is Jay Original, Mel warshaw inc., Miami
high quality dress that is designer made,
fabric is a fine quality polished cotton in a light beige/wheat background with carmel colored graphics of swirling leaves
the side drape is attached just over the top of the left hip and fans down in pleats the full length of the dress
drape is backed with a stiff netting to hold it's shape
scoop low back
belted waist
right shoulder has a folded fabric drape which is attached and cascades down more in back
back metal zipper
darts up from the waist & in from the sides
dress is in fab vintage condition, no issues, I have not had this dress cleaned

A talented designer that worked in fashion primarily in the 1940s – 1950s, Mel Warshaw owned Mel Warshaw Inc., the parent company to “Jay Original.” Originally from New York, Mel Warshaw moved to Miami in the early 40s. He is considered influential and one of the originators of mid-century Miami fashion. Miami was a popular destination in the 1950s. Socialites, starlets and wealthy travelers both lived in and traveled to Miami. For stylish souvenirs and to commemorate their glamorous times while there, many purchased fine garments.
