A BIT OF HISTORY:
Oscar Gutherz and Maximilian Marx started a china decorating firm in 1884 and later made porcelain. Gutherz's brother, Edgar, bought out Marx in 1898, and the firm became O. & E. G. So, the Marx & Gutherz hallmark on this item dates it to the 1880s-1890s.
