A Fearsome Fighter Made Fun

The Balsa Basics BF-109 is an intermediate level flyer that is easy to build and friendly to fly. Unlike other warbird models out there, this one has a very light wing-loading and gentle characteristics. Although not for beginner pilots (for that see the Balsa Basics Cub), this would make for a great first warbird. Like the real steel, the Balsa Basics Messerschmitt BF-109 is quick, clean and responsive in the air.

This would make a good 2nd RC model if you can handle your learner/ trainer model.

EASY TO BUILD -

In addition to flying with ease, we have designed this model to go together flawlessly with no guesswork. Precision laser cut parts fit together to form the tapered wing of the 109 with the spar and doublers cleverly sandwiching each rib. Likewise, the fuselage is built up using self jigging components that interlock to form the nose and cockpit of the aircraft. Balsa fuselage sides and more formers bring the tail together to capture that iconic 109 feel in a simple yet effective way.

Please Note: this is an airframe kit and will need your own electronics, radio gear, battery, 55mm spinner and covering material (scroll down for all the things you will need)

MORE DETAILED THAN YOU MIGHT THINK -

This fun-scale model of the BF-109 packs in just the right amount of detail: exhaust stacks, structural tail supports and a vacuum-formed plastic canopy are included as standard while a separate Extra Details Kit is available for those who want to go the extra mile with finishing their model off. The aircraft can be covered and finished in a variety of ways to bring it to life.

Boxy but Beautiful -

Straightforward construction results in a model that looks good on the ground and great in the air. It's just the amount of detail you need.

Easy Battery Access -

There's plenty of room in here for 3s LiPo batteries up to a 2200 (which is the recommended size for this model).

Belly Lander -

To do away with complex, fragile retracts, the Balsa Basics BF-109 is a belly lander meaning you can launch and land in a variety of flying fields. A quick underarm hand toss and you're up in the air.

Glue - We'd recommend you use super glue with models in this range for speedy builds. Roket Hot is a great option.
