An Accurate Map of the Two Sicilies particularly showing the places destroyed by the late earthquake'. With a key that includes Ancient Roman miles, this map shows an area of Europe that saw much change of leadership over the peri-od as Austrian Habsburgs, Spanish Habsburgs, Bourbons and the House of Savoy all had their moments in charge. Plagued by bandits then as now, Sicily was densely populated but strikingly poor thanks to the rapacious middle class entrepre-neurs who took advantage of absentee landlords.
