For sale, a March, 1914 autographed letter written/signed by Dr. Preston H. Bailhache, family and Civil War physician who first met Lincoln in 1857 in Springfield Illinois. Dr. Bailhache gives an account of his almost daily attending the Lincoln family in Springfield, Ill. and having had dinner once at the Lincoln White House. This ALS was requested by J. E. Boos (born 1879), a well known Lincoln collector of the accounts of persons who came into Lincoln's life. 

This item has four pages which include: the Boos obtained account cover as to who the eyewitness was, ie. Dr. Bailhache, the one page autographed letter from Bailhache to J. E. Boos and two images of Lincoln. 

Overall: 6" x 9" and in very good condition. Letter has one vertical fold and is on embossed stationery giving 
the address of Bailhache as Stapleton (Staten Island), N. Y.

This item comes with a removed/torn article published in the Fall of 2011 by The Manuscript Society about the collection Boos assembled to honor Lincoln's life and to acquire oral histories from those who met/knew Lincoln.
