Some historians have questioned whether I am playing loose with the facts regarding the founder. I made a conscious choice to present her in the context of how she understood her life. It was not until after her death we found out that TTTS experiments were performed on her without her permission. She was in a tailspin for several years trying to understand the effects. She viewed this time as her own Dark Ages and her subsequent altruism as her Emergence. We call it the cocoon and butterfly effect. She was not the best at naming things...

Her philosophy caused several paradigm shifts including how activism worked. Before NCLED (she named it, eye roll) there were a few strong-willed activists so upset with indifference they lost sight of what they were really trying to accomplish. The founder felt this was all backwards and that anger fuels bad problem-solving. She knew this because the TTTS experiments had incited anger within her and her problem-solving had suffered. When she worked through all the pain she could move from retribution to contribution.

She laughed at her own conspiracy theories about what had happened to her including the one about being a royal genius cryogenic clone periodically thawed to serve as living history and guidance for humanity to a better tomorrow. Aside from the fanciful way she stated it how far off was she really knowing what we know now?

After her death we found out she had lasted longer than any other TTTS test subject hence the lengthy experimentation. All this is to say she felt so attacked that she had to examine what existed outside the torment they designed for her. Her impulse was to remove herself from her dual nationalities, her socioeconomic advantages, gender, skin color (of great importance at the time though strange by today’s standards, much like categorizing people based on free or attached earlobes), age, etc. to become Any Human.

From this vantage point she could see the world was not providing properly for infants. At the time babies could easily starve and die depending on where they were born. Not every baby had equal access to education and care.

The Baby Care Not Maybe Care was a Level 3 FEPSS response. Most FEPSSI responses are implemented organically (with static and rapid NCLED UUN-certified numbers) but this time the UUN got involved.

The response’s “Peas and Carrots” strategy was threefold:

1. Governments were famously told by FEPSSI activists to “Eat your peas and carrots before you get dessert.” This was a directive for governments to provide for babies before resuming armament transactions.

2. Restaurant chefs and home cooks prepared peas and carrots for dinner (with exceptions for more balanced meals for children) until babies were provided for universally.

3. There was a third interpretation (think Lysistrata 5th century BCE). I’m sure you can imagine all the peas and carrot jokes. Some jokes really got a rise out of people, though most fell flat.

The unshakeable resolve of the combined will of the people resulted in the UUN enacting minimum guaranteed global standards, resources, and supplies from conception to age 7.

Some unintended consequences of Peas and Carrots were: a spike in cumin and coriander sales (really any dang spice for those dang vegetables), anybody actually asking a vegan for a recipe for the first time, said vegan feeling faint over the shock of being asked for said recipe, 73% of vegetable jokes being met with glazed stares, and finally a strong hankerin’ (1) amongst some of the lesser-willed for ‘sirloin mousse’ dessert after a peas and carrots dinner.

Speaking of plants some chide the founder for not being as fervent with ecological matters. She said that one person needn’t address all things, and that she felt comfortable at the Any Human level. She respected those that could remove themselves from all species and transcend to the Any Living Thing level or to the Entire Earth level or the Entire Galaxy level or... you get the picture.

She advocated for more people to participate in change but at whatever level they liked and strongly recommended frequent inaction too likening it to a “fallow field.” Activists criticized her approach but she convinced social justice innovators to “harness the lazy” because the entire world’s population awakened just a little was far more effective than a few loud activists.

Since this marketplace for artists is a place for me to sell historically inspired art I can’t repeat one of her favorite 3 word 3 syllable quotes of trademarked characters (the animation studio still exists after all these centuries), but you can read between the lines: Zen Rabbit, Not Spastic Tasmanian Animal. Her philosophy evolved from rejecting irate activists to cautiously including them only in initial reporting of injustices. She never abandoned her insistence on leaders’ calm and humorous approach to FEPSS solutions and neither has Earth.

Since she could feel her ideas evolve with her and knew she was not completely evolved she waited for others to improve or replace her ideas, each of which happened many times over. As she said, “You can up-FEPSS anything even FEPSS.” She left the spotlight very early claiming “Power is a hot potato.” 82% of historians believe this is a cautionary statement. The remaining 19% believe this makes them hungry... no not for power. An additional 1% can’t believe I have a math degree.

She also felt people were already doing the most noble work on the planet with their own families— making dinner, reading bedtime stories, etc. and should not be looked down on. She felt they had little time and little resources but the desire to help. She thought of how to make it as easy as possible for people to turn their power on and effect change. She famously said, “If I had to learn differential calculus to join a social cause I would never do it.” Nobody knows what she was talking about yet they got the drift; a common phenomenon with her pronouncements. Anyway from her sentiment NCLED was born soon followed by FEPSS. But please study differential calculus which certainly did not deserve to be disparaged.

The founder foresaw that this Level 3 would result in change upon change. She was allergic to chess but could see several moves ahead with FEPSS responses. She foresaw how preventative care, like that of The Baby Care Initiative, would heal humanity, replace prisons, and reduce reliance on rehabilitation centers. It is easy for us now to understand why rejecting people from society, punishing them for life, torturing or killing them in prisons is bad but those were common practices into the 25th century. The people did not have the tools in place to identify, prevent, or rehabilitate the troubled. I’m sure the future will identify aspects of our current reality that seem uninformed!

We are all a work in progress.
