Rare and Authentic - A stunning example of true bohemian Eastern Europe fashion ; what would have been known as “Gypsy”

Difficult to know an exact era when this dress was made, I would say anywhere between the 1930s/40s/50s (I would appreciate any kind of information that someone might have, I am a vintage enthusiast but not a professional and always interested in learning more!)

A deep, rich burgundy color in a rustic brushed cotton.

Extremely intricate embroidery of lattice and zigzag designs and wonderfully colorful “tassels” across the bodice and the neckline; front and back.

Delicate lace-up front detail. A complete full circle skirt.

Zigzag embroidery around the armholes and the waist.

The design of the dress is very interesting! There are several rows of thin elastic bands sewn across the back of the chest that creates a “bustle” effect in the back. The front being a more streamlined silhouette and the back having a dramatic fullness to the skirt. -A really ingenious technique!

No label to indicate make or manufacturer or size. I would say someone painstakingly made and embroidered this dress for themselves or a loved one. -Measurements are included in the details as well as in the pictures Please see pictures as all sales are final- I would say this dress is a size small/medium. For reference my mannequin is a standard size medium and it fits perfectly. There is elastic sewn into the back of the chest that allows to fit of a range of sizes. The fabric itself has no stretch. The measurements included in the details are Stretched. The measurements included in the pictures are Not Stretched.

From my personal collection of vintage clothing that I have been hoarding for years, this dress has been carefully stored. In pristine condition with no signs of damage or wear. One of a kind vintage item sold as is.

-I use recycled shipping materials when available-

Cheers!!
