Description

Antique nautical, maritime, late 18th Century, George III period, British Colonial North American, sailor's carved coconut “Bugbear” gun powder flask, carved in relief, with two oval medallions. The front medallion encloses a British heraldic crown, the back medallion encloses a heart surrounded by stiff leaves, all against a hatched background. The remaining surfaces are carved with hatched panels and flower-heads. The flask is fitted with a silver nozzle and two metal suspension loops.

MEASUREMENTS: Height: from top of the nozzle to bottom of the base: 16.2 cm (6.38 inches).
 
CONDITION: In good condition, showing the age and usage, with a dark patina. The two suspension loops are not the same so one must be a later replacement. No cracks or repairs.
