Welcome to Antiques & Moore!

This listing is for a lovely large antique Art Nouveau period glass perfume, cologne bottle or decanter with elaborate American Sterling Silver overlay decoration. The clear glass bottle is decorated with an elaborate Sterling Silver overlay design that covers the entire body with a heart shaped cartouche for monogram (unused). There is also a wide Sterling Silver overlaid neck and mouth with a large round matching glass stopper with matching flower design in the center top. The sterling is marked with the trademark stamp of the Matthews Co. who operated in Newark NJ from 1907-1936. Silver is also stamped "309, 999/1000".

The bottle measures 6 3/4" high (with stopper inserted), 4 3/4" high (to top of bottle) with a 2 1/4" diameter top and a 5" overall width. Weighs 1.15 pounds.

Both the bottle and stopper are in excellent Estate condition with no noted flaws other than some faint cloudiness on the flat bottom on the interior of the decanter and a small faint area on the side of the stopper at the bottom where the glass may have been slightly polished to remove a small nick or faint damage. Overall the bottle in considered to be in excellent condition reflecting only minor possible signs of normal wear commensurate with age. The elaborate silver overlay work has nice details and is free of damage.
