You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal.

It depicts a wild boar hunt in an abandonned castle in France. Very beautiful and dramatic.

The château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg (Hohkönigsburg) is a medieval castle located at Orschwiller, Alsace, France, in the Vosges mountains just west of Sélestat. It is situated in a strategic location on a rocky spur overlooking the Upper Rhine Plain; as a result it was used by successive powers from the Middle Ages until the Thirty Years' War when it was abandoned. From 1900 to 1908 it was rebuilt at the behest of the German emperor Wilhelm II. This print is forty years prior to this rebuild, while it was in an abandoned state.

Also included with the print is a second page from the same journal with an XX-inch article. It is in French, but free computer translation programs make it easy to translate.

It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a French caption below.

The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print. See scan for an accurate view of the condition.

This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
