This listing is for 2 Vintage MOSER CZECH BOHEMIA, ALEXANDRITE OR NEODYMIUM Gilded Enamelled WINE GLASSES.

Do you ever wish that you had something really rare and hard to find somewhere else!!??…..THESE glasses are VERY rare to find. They have hand painted floral flower arrangements with over gilding scrolls a beautifully delicate pattern with the bright lavender/pinky purple coloured glass (in incandescent lighting conditions changing to pale blue).

A real talking point when with guests…

They are also gilded on the foot edge and rim. Altogether a very pleasing sight. Great for that special gift, or occasion…or to keep and use and admire!!…..

(I am also listing 6 BRANDY glasses in pairs and 6 sherry glasses in pairs. If you require more than one pair please message me for combined postage before purchase…or if you require a job lot price?)

RESEARCH NOTES:

Google information:

Neodymium glass (also known as Alexandrite glass), changes colour according to different lighting conditions. The glass appears lilac (or sometimes pink) in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smokey blue in fluorescent/white light. This is due to the presence of Neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass. Glassware containing Neodymium was produced in several countries, including Scandinavia, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The shades of lilac, pink and blue can vary greatly depending on the glass mixture.

An example of expensive glassware is gold-leaf and enamel-decorated made in now rare technique in Italy, it is called Tre Fuochi, which means “three flames” or “triple-firing” in Italian. This technique hails from the opulence of the eighteenth century Venice, when many wealthy Venetians and foreigners sought out exclusive tableware to show off their elite status at dinners and balls. Tre Fuochi technique involves lots of expensive 24 karat gold, and painstaking manual work of painting gold leaf and enamels on the glassware.

These glass items are decorated in CZECHOSLOVAKIA in the MOSER glass factories with 24 kt gold and many colored enamels. The 24-Karat gold leaf and enamel are applied by hand to the glass with a traditional technique. When the decoration has been achieved, the piece is heated in a furnace, where it remains pegged until it reaches a temperature of about 520°C and the gold and the enamel fuse with the glass.

The first step is the decoration in gold, which is followed by a session in the furnace In the second stage , the enamel is applied and undergoes another firing in the furnace, for the third and final stage, the finishing touches in gold paste to the enamel are applied, before the last firing.

The Master Glass blower, working with both hot and cold glass blowing techniques, acheiving the title of MASTER in only 12 years. An apprentice glass blower normally serves between 15 to 20 years before they earn this title.

I am extremely excited to present a visual feast for the eyes with these glasses which will simply knock you off your feet with their stunning visual appeal and technical brilliance.
