WARRIORS OF HEAVOEN AND EARTH 2005

Martial arts epic set in the ferocious heat of the Gobi desert, starring Jiang Wen and Kiichi Nakai as Lieutenant Li and Japanese emissary Lai Xi, both first-class warriors and master swordsmen. After decades of service to the Chinese Emperor, Lai Xi (Nakai) longs to return to Japan, but is instead sent out West to chase wanted criminals. His only passport home is to capture and execute Lieutenant Li (Wen), a renegade soldier wanted for leading a violent mutiny in which he refused orders to kill women and children prisoners. When a caravan transporting a Buddhist monk and valuable treasure comes under threat, the two warriors must unite to protect the travellers before they can finally face each other.
