CHART- MAP
Seen here Jerusalem from Civitates Orbis Terrarum (All the Cities of the World), the first volume of which was published in Cologne in 1572. The sixth and the final volume appeared in 1617. The volumes were edited by Georg Braun (1541-1622), a cleric of Cologne, and for the most part engraved by Franz Hogenberg. In total they contained 546 views of cities. Braun was assisted by Abraham Ortelius, whose companion volume Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (Maps of the Whole World) would be published 1570—the first true atlas.
