Belgrade 1717

Seen here is the plan of the battle of Belgrade, 1t August 1717 between the Ottoman Turks under the Grand-Vizir Khalil-Pascha and the Austrians under Prince Eugene. During A renewed struggle with the Habsburgs (1716-1718 Turks suffered several heavy defeats during which they lost Belgrade which had been a Turkish fortress for Over two centuries. While still a potent force, the Turks were not the power they had been in the 17th century and Hungary was able to mount a successful campaign to regain lost territory.
