A nice original example of this large classic post-war table radio. It comes from the large collections of an ex-Royal Engineer who served abroad in WW2 and who now wishes to find new homes for the many radio-related items he's acquired since 1945. All proceeds of his sales will assist him in relocating to sheltered accommodation and he's keen to see everything re-homed safely too.

The cosmetic condition of this example is attractive - it was a nice surprise to find such a clean radio from this period when I unwrapped it from its long-term storage. There is some wear, specifically 3 small chips to the veneer. Otherwise the case is good, there is no woodworm, staining or other defect to the woodwork and the surface retains a nice sheen. The speaker cloth is clean and undamaged, the plastic surround trim is bright with no cracks,  the print on the tuning scale is perfect, the three knobs are in good condition and the machine is very clean throughout with no soiling or dirt build-up.

The back cover is intact and inside the cabinet the chassis has no heavy dust build-up or corrosion at all thanks to decades of careful storage. I can see no evidence of modifications or previous repairs inside , it looks very original - the mains lead has worn outer insulation and will probably need replacement. Under power the radio has good dial bulbs, the valves heat and I can hear the speaker but am unable to tune a signal. I have not used an aerial but it is probable that some kind of service or repair will be necessary to return to full working order by a more experienced new owner.

I hope this Pye will find a new home after so many decades hidden away - it’s a handsome machine that deserves to be seen and heard again.
