This is a very elegant blue flowers with natural
agate(only by heat treated) gem stone vintage pendant. It is a kind of
Retro Style Cloisonne Enamel craft. Because the natural agate is always not
so bright, so in order to have the beautiful yellow agate, the natural agate
is always treated by heat. This won’t bring any hurt to the stone and harm
to people. This kind of treatment is safe and lasts long time, the color is
stable. In The base material is Solid Sterling Silver(92.5% silver)! About the photos: I took the photos in cold winter at about 15:30. The day was lucky, there was not rain, though the weather was cloudy and very dim.This picture was taken in our yard and I never did any photo enhance. So, I can assure that the products are much nicer than the pictures!
About
the heat treatment:In the jewelry industry, heat treatment is allowed and recognized. In
order to make the natural gem stone looks more beautiful or have more colors,
heat treatment is always a good and safe choice, such as ruby, sapphire,
pink agate, green agate, yellow agate, etc. (because most of the natural agate
is red, black and grey color).
About the Cloisonne Enamel craft, it needs very complex
production steps and its outstanding step is “Burnt
blue” (about 800-1000’C). There are some very low-priced
imitation cloisonneproducts in the market, but in fact, they are NOT
cloisonne! They are Drip or silicone crafts. These imitation products
always use Alloy as the base and they can’t stand high temperature. They were made
at the normal room temperature. Someone maybe will say that we can call it
as “cool Cloisonne” . That is absolutely wrong! Cloisonne has a history of
more than 2000 years. Because of its unique and complex craftsmanship,
cloisonne is so beautiful. Using high temperature to burn the blue to make
the color beautiful and lasting long is important, there is never any low
temperature cloisonne! I don’t think this imitation product can be called
as “Cloisonne”. This would make the customers mis-understand correct
“Cloisonne”!
