RARE 7” SIGNED DESNA CZECH ART DECO GLASS VASE NUDE DANCING PUTTI CHILD CENTREPIECE. Lalique style.

This new 7 inch vase was reproduced from original ca. 1930 molds of Henry G. Schlevogt, a noted Czech glass designer and manufacturer.

The large heavy vase was made in clear crystal with opaque satin finish panels with the six beautiful putti-like dancing children holding floral garlands, bacchanalian, alternating one facing in and the next facing out…..and another panel towards the top with art nouveau style acanthus leaves and flowers. The base is clearly signed DESNA.

The glass has been cut back from the panels and high polished with the top edge bevelled. You can see mould lines on the panels of opaque relief but not on the clear crystal.

The glass thickness is about 3/8” which makes it a very heavy piece to handle.

This item was made in the Czech Republic and sold under the trade name Desna. Many, but not all, Desna pieces are marked.

In company literature, Ornela claims to own several hundred original ca. 1920-1940 molds from the Czech factories of Schlevogt and Heinrich Hoffman. The molds have been put back in production on a rotating staggered basis. Among the first pieces made from the original molds were perfumes with elaborate figural stoppers.

WEIGHT: 3KG APPROX.

CONDITION: Excellent with no damage…some shelf ware commensurate with age. Please see photos.
