  • 1. Each Chapman bit is designed for use within a specific torque range. Small bits are designed for less torque, large bits are designed for more torque. Chapman tools and bits are specifically engineered for hand use.

    2. Chapman bits are tough and springy, not brittle. We use fine alloy steel heat treated with a black oxide finish. Each bit reaches its specified hardness that is not too hard to shatter nor too soft to twist.

    3. Slotted bits have PARALLEL -not tapered- sides. This helps prevent damage or stripping of screws. Our smaller bits - CMS-3,4 & CM-88, 89, 90, etc. - are designed to prevent damage in applications where the screw is more valuable than the bit. When excess torque is applied, our bits are designed to break before marring an irreplaceable screw. If a screw is seated so tightly that the bit starts to bend, stop immediately as additional force will break the bit, mar the piece, or rip off the screw head.

    4. Our famous Chapman Mini Ratchet provides approximately 4 times the leverage of a large screwdriver. The ratchet provides more torque than small screws are designed for, so use gentle but even pressure to loosen small screws. A small size bit can be twisted if sufficient force is applied. Use the knurled ends of our bits or the spinner top to apply finger pressure.

    5. Some screws cannot be removed with a screwdriver. Cross-threaded, burred, chipped, varnished screws or screws treated with clear glue (especially on firearms) are near impossible to remove without tapping into the screw or applying heat.

    Customer Feedback

"I have purchased 3 of your screwdriver kits for use in my dental office. It is a large office. I ordered your kit because I asked one of my radiographic unit technicians who has one about it. This was a really good, complete kit that is perfect for 90% of all tightening, adjusting and calibrating procedures that we do in our office. Specifically, the small screws, valves and small individual dental units are no problem for your kits. Instead of having to drag out the large tool kits, these small, easy to store kits are wonderful. I have also ordered the metric kits as well."

"I picked this up after fumbling around with different tools at the range to adjust and sight in my AR-15s and M4. They guy on the bench next to me had this kit and I copied down the info. What a convenience to have all the right sizes for any weapon adjustment you need. Great buy, grab one!"

"Purchased this to work on the sights/mounts on my Ruger Single Six and Blackhawks. Found that it has the correct bits to service my 70+ year old Winchesters as well. I like the fact they designed the bits to fail before damaging the screws and bolts, lowering the chance to damage the finish of any of your firearms."

"Bought these for a specific job I was having problems with. The kit works perfectly and does what it's told. I did manage to break one of the bits but the screw I was trying to get out probably hadn't been removed in almost a hundred years, as well as being entirely over torqued. User error and absolutely my fault, as I put entirely too much pressure on the small bit. Oh well, I give it 5 stars anyway because I can't blame the kit for my stupidity."

"I saw a former special forces friend using these once and I jotted the name down. I bought mine direct at the time. This is one of the most complete, yet compact kits around. It's my "go to" kit whenever I disassemble my 1911's, revolvers, and rifles. It's important to use the right size bits to keep from marring screw heads on nice firearms. I've bought too many guns that have screws that have been chewed up by folks using the wrong size tool on them."

"These bits work great and this is the best set I have ever bought. They fit almost any gun screw - sizes are made for gun screws and I have ground two myself to use with handmade screws. They are made to break before you get too aggressive and mar the finish. If so they are cheap to replace. I heard they are going to make a master kit and a larger gunsmith kit with torx. I am in line for both. They are a long term American made company - which just adds to the package."

"I needed something compact enough to fit in my box, yet have all the drivers I needed. I took a chance and purchased one of your 8900 kits. I have seen many other bit kits that people think are good enough to do the job- they never seem up to the task. These on the other hand aretop notch tools. I thank you for making a great product." - Jason

"The driver set I acquired has been a godsend in maintaining my Ruger Blackhawk and my Grandfather and Father's old Winchesters (68, 69, 1935, 1894, and a 9422).  I couldn't be happier!"
