Vintage J and F Martell Cognac Liquor Crate, French Embassy, Kennedy Administration— RARE.

Absolutely rare piece — side is marked with name of Pierre Pelen, Counselor, French Embassy during the Kennedy Administration in the early 1960s. Also marked “Ambassade de France” and “Washington (EUA).”

Here is a record of Mr Pelen’s service from the State Department archives:

Purchased at an estate sale in the Northern, VA suburbs of Washington DC. I’ve done nothing but haul it home — no chemicals or cleaners have been applied.

This liquor crate is about 23” across, 9” high and 12.5” deep.

Nails around top. No lid — 5 sides. See all photos. Good vintage condition.

All photos actual purchase — I take my photos under professional lighting without filters.
