A Superb, Large And Extremely Decorative Antique Chinese Blue And White Porcelain Charger Or Presentation Dish. Salvaged From The Diana Cargo Shipwreck And Dating To 1817. Sold At Christie's, March 1995.Profusely Decorated In Vibrant Blue On A White Ground With A Central Stylized Chrysanthemum Flower, Surrounded By Abstract Conch Designs. The Reverse Of The Dish With Stylized Flower Stems. The Diana Was Licensed By The English East India Company To Sail From Calcutta Or Madras To Canton, Carrying Cotton And Of Course, Opium, Which Was Extremely Lucrative. The Ship Would Then Return To India From China, Laden With Silks, Tea, Preserved Fruits And Thousands Of Pieces Of Beautiful Blue And White Porcelain. Size Is 10.5 Inches Diameter, And 2 Inches Tall From Surface. No Chip And Cracks.
