Café Winkler, or Grand Café Winkler, was a restaurant opened by Hermann Winkler in 1946 on the Salzburg Mönchberg hill. It included a restaurant, a café, a concert hall and a bar. 4,000 people rode the old electric lift to attend its opening. It became a famous dance location and was featured in several films, including The Sound of Music. In 1972-3, the Café was renovated and part of it became the Salzburg Casino. By the end of the 1970s, Winkler had sold his last shares in the venture and the building was rebuilt and operated exclusively as the Salzburg Casino. It was demolished in 1998 in order to make way for the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. This painting is based on a photograph of the Café before its renovation in the 1970s.

Das Café Winkler oder auch Grand Café Winkler war ein 1946 von Hermann Winkler eröffnetes Restaurant auf dem Salzburger Mönchberg. Es umfasste ein Restaurant, ein Café, einen Konzertsaal und eine Bar. 4.000 Menschen fuhren mit dem alten Elektrolift zur Eröffnung. Es wurde zu einem berühmten Tanzort und wurde in mehreren Filmen gezeigt, darunter The Sound of Music. 1972-73 wurde das Café renoviert und ein Teil davon wurde zum Casino Salzburg. Ende der 1970er Jahre hatte Winkler seine letzten Anteile an dem Unternehmen verkauft, das Gebäude wurde umgebaut und ausschließlich als Casino Salzburg betrieben. 1998 wurde es abgerissen, um Platz für das Museum der Moderne Salzburg zu machen.
