SdKfz 250/3 tracked Communications vehicle as produced in 1944 or earlier.
Made by Lineol (Germany) from Tin (not caste metal).
Believed made in the 1980’s (or earlier) when Lineol made some tin versions of tanks and other tracked units
Heavy item – 8” long (20mm)
Please remember these were made for children in Germany after the WW2 period and as such are not scale replicas we expect today. They were to be played with while they represented a certain model they were not made to be other than a toy. But what a toy.
Please note the three soldiers are not included in the prices as is the background which is just to show the vehicle off better. (I can list them on ebay if you wish to buy them)
opening back door. 2 guns move up and down and side to side and are included with the vehicle.
Nice dark brown camouflage paint work. Tracks are in good order and turn just fine.
Front wheels can be moved side to side as required.
The SdKfz 250 was produced for various jobs such as radio car with cable drums, troop carrier, the 3rd version was the communication vehicle with the radio antenna around the roof which could be lowered in real life. Each of the models were hand made with the use of solder joints.
On page 243 of the "There Complete Guide To German Armoured Vehicles" undo 250/3 Ausf A leichte Funkpanzerwagen - it was a radio liaison vehicle that could be fitted with various radio sets to suit its unit and specific purpose. The aerial around the vehicle could enable this vehicle to communicate with aircraft as well as sound troops. -4 of these vehicles was attached to General Erwin Rommels command as photographs show him in sure a vehicle. The actual vehicle weight was 5.35 tons and was manned by a 4 man crew.
there is considerable information in my book about the various uses and the radio and arial set ups. But they all seemed to have the two machine guns.
Remember this is an original and not one of the copies that came out in recently l
