The LSI SAS 9212-4i4e host bus adapter (HBA) can provide high throughput for internal servers and external storage arrays through high-speed 6Gb/s ports, and supports up to 256 SATA physical devices and SAS physical devices. By matching the x8 PCI Express 2.0 host interface and an external x4 SFF8088 Mini-SAS connector and four internal x1 SATA connectors, it supports server storage RAID and non-RAID storage cabinets.

This HBA utilizes the embedded CPU in the LSISAS2008 controller to perform integrated RAID 0, 1, 1E, and 10 operations, thereby realizing reliable data protection with high availability. This enables communication on the x8 PCI Express 2.0 host interface with the help of ultra-concise, low-overhead device drivers. By reducing the additional overhead of the RAID code, the HBA also provides high-speed read/write performance, which is especially suitable for medium to high-capacity internal storage applications.
