Hand Made in Washington State!  I took a 3/4" thick piece of spruce and cut out the shape of WA on it. It is 14-15” wide and 8.5-9.5” high. After that, I sanded it and rubbed in a dark walnut colored stain.  The next step was painting a dark evergreen colored checkerboard pattern on the board.  The squares are 1" x 1".  Then, I sanded again to give it a rustic and worn look.  I also polished on 2 coats of beeswax and orange oil wood conditioner.

For the checkers, I used 1" wood rounds that I painted evergreen and white.  There are 12 of each for a total of 24 checker pieces.

I also sewed a drawstring bag that is fully lined and reversible.  The outside is a green plaid flannel fabric and the inside is a cream and beige woodsy rustic pattern.

I live on a 10 acre Douglas Fir tree farm in Southwest Washington State, and I have been looking for something that I can make that truly represents this beautiful place that I call home.  This would make a great housewarming gift or a present for just about any occasion.

If you would like one of these checkerboards with other colors or something else painted on it, let me know.  I love doing custom work!  Thanks for looking!
