London: Edward Arnold, 1894. Large Paper Edition.
Leather. 304p plus plates. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR. FINE BINDING BY ROOT
& SON.
A hardcover book bound in 3/4 green leather with marbled
boards and endpapers. The spine features five raised bands and gilt
devices that emphasize the horseback riding theme. The original red
cloth binding is neatly bound inside, just after the preface. The spine
is slightly faded, and the label with the author's last name is lightly
rubbed. There is a small newspaper clipping about a horse race pasted on
the first blank endpaper. Small scuff mark in the blank space to the
left of the plate facing page 290. Neat pencil notations on a few of the
extra plates. Otherwise, text unmarked and binding secure.
