PENSTEMON CONFERTUS , YELLOW BEARDTONGUE

Practically uncommon in cultivation. This interesting species is native to western part of North America from British Columbia in Canada to Washington and Oregon in US). Although it is commonly called the yellow penstemon, its flowers are very light yellow to cream in the fact. Small flowers (1,5 cm long) are densely packed in whorls on erect stems above evergreen lance-shaped foliage to 10 cm long. Best in full sun and rather dry soil. Nice addition to the border or alpine garden. Easy-to-grow and long lived. Flowers first year from sowing.
