WITH ENVELOPE

A greeting card with a ukiyo-e print of outstanding beauty, chosen and printed with love 。.:*♡
Complementary classic haiku calligraphy on the back of each card.

Horikiri Iris Garden ("Horikiri no Hanashobu" 堀切ノ花菖蒲)
by Hiroshige Utagawa, from the "One Hundred Famous Views Of Edo" series, 1857.

The village of Horikiri was known for producing flowers for the Edo market, including the most famous variety - a type of iris known as "hanashōbu".
On the print, in the immediate foreground there are three beautifully detailed irises. In the distance, the sightseers from Edo can be seen admiring the blossoms. Hiroshige noted that so many lovely women from Edo came to view the blossoms that "it was difficult to distinguish which were the real flowers" ♡

Haiku calligraphy on the back of the card:

"Irises -
from which that rainbow
begins"

Kobayashi Issa (1763-1827)
