This is a rare 1846 broadside by John Hutchings titled “Honor To Whom Honor Is Due” Origin of Steam Navigation. It
shows pictures and diagrams of steamboats that Hutchins claims were constructed by John Fitch, six years before
Robert Fulton was credited with inventing the the steamboat ‘Clermont’. This all took place on Collect Pond, which
was a pond that no longer exists in what is Chinatown in lower Manhattan. The sheet measures 19”x 15 1/2”, has
a small repaired tear on the right side, but in good shape. It has an information sheet on the back of the plastic
holder that will be sent well packaged and flat.
