Description:

Circular 32mm pressed tinplate badge with a celluloid face and spring pin on the reverse. This yellow badge has a thin yellow border and an inner dark blue circle with the words 'Glenelg Patriotic Carnival' in yellow. The center has the Red Cross framed by the Belgium flag and a diagonal bicolor flag (sorry I can't find what the flag represents) There is no markings along the rim of the tinnie

History / Summary

Fundraising badge produced for the Red Cross at the Glenelg Patriotic Carnival 27 February 1915. The theme of the February  27 , 1915 Glenelg Patriotic Carnival was 'Remember Gallant Belgium' ( Belgium was under military occupation by the forces of the German Empire between 1914 and 1918 ). Such badges were sold in trams, buses, at railways stations and at rallies to raise money for the stated cause.
