Description: One of the most ambitious architectural projects of the 17th century was the urban renewal of Rome, where many new streets and squares were created and monumental structures were built. These projects not only showed the absolute power of the Pope, but also gave a new boost to Italian art and architecture. In “Nuovo Teatro”, published in 4 volumes, the new Rome was presented in engravings. This fourth volume was dedicated to the palaces and government buildings. Sold as loose prints, copper engravings by Alessandro Specchi.
