We are offering a rare, maritime folk art piece.
A beautifully hand carved, Late 18th to Early 19th Century Sailor Made Longboat.
The amazing miniature's hull is carved of one piece,
with the board seats attached (thwarts).
The two stars, on the hull, and the admirals seat,
point to this ship being modeled after an Admirals launch.

The white paint was added on later,
traces of the original white paint can still be seen around the edges.
You can make out age-related craquelure on the original varnish.
This type of late 18th to early 19th century longboat was an
important part of the equipment on larger ships,
and was used in naval combat for dispatches.

This launch was modeled after a longboat
that would have accompanied a ship through
historical sea battles in the Revolutionary War
through the War of 1812.

Along with the boat comes two oars, one of which is missing the blade.
