Description

Antique, 19th century, Islamic Russian Caucasian Circassian Cossack saddle in Kabardian form, consists of a wooden frame, cantle extending over to the rear and projecting to the frontal high arch pommel, covered overall in leather partly painted in red and black and highlighted in white. On one side of the saddle is punched N6 and also some inscription.
The Circassian saddle is unique in its construction and very light compared to the other saddles by its construction and is giving the rider comfort and stability and comfort to the horse, for these qualities Kabardian saddles have been widely used by all nations of Caucasus, also by Kuban and Don Cossacks, and Ottoman Turks.

CONDITION: Signs of usage and wear, the leather flaps slightly worn and a bit dried with the age, leather belts damaged, one leather strap holding the leather flap broken.


The display stand, which is in the picture, is a prop, and is not included with the saddle.
