The "Excellent Border Guard" badge was established by a decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR in 1949. The badge was awarded to soldiers and sergeants of the border troops of the Ministry of State Security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the KGB of the USSR exemplary service in protecting the State Border of the Soviet Union, qualitatively performing special tasks, achieving excellent performance in combat and political training, setting an example in discipline.
This badge was awarded until 1969.
The badge exists of several types and varieties, it was made of yellow metal, using silvering and enamels. This lot presents a rare variety - the Ministry of Internal Affairs!
