One of the most beautiful race boats of all time, BABY BOOTLEGGER achieved fame as the winner of the APBA Gold Cup in 1924 and 1925 and the Dodge Memorial Trophy in 1925.
Designed by George Crouch and built by Henry Nevins, the construction of BABY BOOTLEGGER was unique. The sides of the mahogany hull were rounded into the deck with a gradually changing curve from stem to stern. The advantage of this design was that it permitted the construction of a light and strong hull with a minimum of wind resistance.
The boat initially used a V-8 Hispano-Suiza engine, specifically the licensed Wright-Hisso version. Built with 719 cubic inch piston displacement, the engine was sleeved to meet the 625 cubic inch maximum of the day.
The owner Caleb Bragg was a successful auto racer, a World War I test pilot, an officer of Wright Aeronautical, and--by all accounts--a most thorough engineer. The model is 2” = 1’ scale, it is 59 ¼” long and has an 11 9/16” beam.
The model design has been changed to use the Leopard 4074 x2 motor with a water cooling jacket. The motor mounting gives plus or minus .10” adjustment up and down, and side to side. The motor can be removed and replaced without affecting the alignment to the shaft and log.  This short kit does NOT contain any sheet or stick wood. The kit does contain the 1/8” Mahogany shapes for the cockpit coaming and turtledeck sides. This kit contains all the parts for the hull frame Assembly Fixture and a Cradle/Stand Assembly. This short kit does NOT contain any hardware. The plans are CAD plots that have all stations at full size, and full size views and sections. If you want to build a classic speed boat, this kit has done all the cutting of frames and shaped structural pieces for you. Shipping is in a 9 pound 4” X 4” X 48” box by USPS Priority Mail.  I prefer PayPal. Shipping will be 3 to 4 weeks after the purchase. The kits will be custom cut to order.
