ULTRARARE Orig. WW2 German Luftwaffe leather flight jacket BOB 1940 sz. 40/42 US

If you decide to wear it - please ask for measurements.

The leather is  strong and durable - well tanned !

This flight jacket is the first German Luftwaffe flight jacket , which was given out as a short flight jacket (non suit)
It was produced in France during the occupation in France around 1939/40. These flight jackets were given out
to the Luftwaffe - as well to other branches! It was an official Equipment of the Wehrmacht - NOT a private purchased
equipment like the famous Hartmann flight jacket!
(This type of fur jacket was produced in France before the occupation in the 30s as well and was used by the french army as well
BUT most of these flight jackets had been thrown away or had been exchanged and were worn off (worn down). Thats why its extremly hard
to find one of those jackets. I have 3 in my collection which I bought over years and I am willing to sell some of my rare jackets to invest in another
Luftwaffe technical equipment - which is now my hobby.)

Remarkable is that the flight jacket has one part arm panels at front and backside and one part back at backside ! (early model)

This type of flight jacket was seen on many Luftwaffe Photos around 1940 of Battle of Britain period. After that this jacket was exchanged
by the Luftwaffe by the Channel Jacket. This is a - if you want - Pre-channel-Flight jacket for fighter and bomber Pilots.

The cuffs of this flight jacket were wool cuffs in yellow/sand - but have been exhanged in war by the wife of the pilot.

I have listed at ebay.com two of these jackets worn by the same pilot in nearly same size. The leather is well tanned and strong - not comparable with fragile B-3´s
were most not been tanned well and fall appart.

The front Zipper had been modified . Its an ultrarare D.R.P (Deutsches Reichspatent - German Rich Patent) RHEINNADEL zipper.

The collar had beed added . But mostly this flight jacket was worn without the collar. These Jackets had in Origin no collar. The Luftwaffe added collars.

The Buttons are made out of steel - Solide Elegant marked - and some are made out of bakelite.

The Panels of this rare flight jacket are large - which were later devided into smaller panels ! This brown type was also worn by Walter Oesau.

The leather is still stoft and this flight jacket can be also a daily wearer if you wish.

Here are the original WW2 Pictures for the collectors - just copy paste it into your browser. Erich Hartmann, Mölders, Walter Oesau was wearing this jacket:
