PRIMULA PULVERULENTA, MEALY PRIMROSE

This beautiful candelabra primula is native to moist habitats of Sichuan in China. The plant forms decorative, basal rosette of fresh green leaves to 30 cm long and many upright, strong flower-stems in early summer. The purple-carmine flowers (3 cm across) are grouped at intervals along a stem in a tiered formation. Older plants produce stems even to 100 cm tall and putting on an unforgettable display in the borders or containers. Excellent cut flower. It prefers a rich, moist soil in full sun. This unique, eye-catching plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
