This listing is for the embroidered Kimono or robe that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. I think that it might be old enough to be considered vintage. I do not know where it was made. Some research tells me that it is a Uchikake Wedding Kimono. I know very little about kimonos. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is, who made it and what type of kimono it is.

All of the embroidery except for the narrow black strips some of which look like they might be embroidered,   is done with threads that look and feel metallic. Some is gold colored, some is a reddish copper color, some is a bright whitish silver color. The embroidery and the gold colored material of the inner lining, are all shiny. I do not know what kind of metal was used. It might be something that is not metal although I think that unlikely. The shiny gold coloored inner lining can also be seen inside the sleeves. The red fabric and some of the narrow black strips feel smooth like silk or satin but I do not know what kind of material it is and am thinking that it might not be silk. Some close ups show how it is textured. I find the texture to be unlike silk that I have seen. I leave it to what kind of fabric was used. I do not know how the embroidery was done or how much of the kimono was hand made.

It weighs close to 6 pounds 15 ounces. When laid out like you see it in the photos, and measured from the shoulders to the bottom of the hem, it measures close to 68 inches long. Measured across between the seams that hold the sleeves, it measures close to 27 inches at the top and close to 30 inches at the bottom of the seam. Measured from the bottom of the seams holding them, the sleeves measure close to 33 ½ inches long or when measured from the top of the seams, 41 ½ inches long. When measured across the top and laid out like you see them in the photos, each sleeve measures close to 13 inches wide. The condition is much like you see it in the photos. It is generally in excellent condition. Outside of a few minor wrinkles, I do not see anything wrong with it. I have a relatively weak sense of smell but I do not smell anything when I sniff it so I can say that there are possibly no odors. I think that I would smell anything particularly objectionable like smoke or mold. It looks like it might not have been used. Still you might want to have it cleaned. Otherwise, it is fine and as shown. Any flaws that I might not have seen would be very minor. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition.

I guarantee this kimono to be as described and represented by the 27 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.

Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors.

Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.

I like to leave feedback after I know that the item has arrived and that the buyer is satisfied.

I reserve the right to cancel any bids without explanation.

I frequently purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather. If that does not suit you, please let me know. I often but not always ship the same or the next day. Often, I have a double wall box custom made for larger items and that might result in a short delay. When I use packing peanuts, they are usually biodegradable. Sometimes, I use used boxes.

Please email me with any questions or suggestions. I do not ship on weekends. I might not be available to answer email on weekends.
