These are magnificent antique/vintage iron strap hinges with beautiful, leaf-shaped ends. No single hinge is iabsolutely dentical to another - as with handmade items, all differ very slightly.
They have a gorgeous, genuinely old rust patina, which does not flake off in your hands (unlike modern "rust" finishes).
I am unsure if these are antique or vintage as I bought them about 20 years ago at an architectural antiques auction in Cumbria and the lot didn't come with any provenance or information.
I'm really saddened that we didn't get round to using them - I did originally have grand plans for runs of wardrobes fitted under the eaves, but life got in the way...
This auction is for one pair of strap hinges, but 5 are available in total3 pairs are about 22-22.5" long (no's 1-3)
1 pair is 23.5" long (no.4)
1 pair (with the bent end) is 20.5" long (no.5)
Each pair weighs between 1.2 -1.3+ kg
The eye of the hinges has an internal diameter of c12mm, maybe a mm or so more, but if you need an exact measurement for a particular pair, please contact me so I can double check.
The final photo shows some spike pins that I've just found while clearing our the cellar. I'm happy to include a pair if desired - but please study the pic to see their condition.
The hinges will be sent fully insured and sign for via Evri or can be collected (by prior arrangement) from the West Kent area near Tonbridge. If you wish to buy more than one pair, please contact me for an accurate postal cost as my "each additional" cost is pure guesswork and the reality is likely to be significantly less costly. It will all depend on weight
