Stanton and Pickering Cartridge Stylus Retipping Service. You send me your cartridge or stylus and I will retip it for you.

It’s getting harder and harder to find the Calibration Standard cartridge with a good original stylus—same for just about any Pickering with an original stylus. You can buy a used one and guess whether it is worn on not. These revered cartridges were once was almost universal and so plentiful that people gave them away or *gasp* threw them away. Now, they are highly sought after as NOS or used.

Stanton/Pickering as a cartridge manufacturer is now out of business and no longer producing cartridges or styli. The original nude Stereohedron or Stereohedron II line contact stylus is harder and harder to find and commands high prices. Aftermarket styli are often excellent for many cartridges, but the complex suspension and cantilever combination that makes Stanton and Pickering so easy to enjoy and gentle on your records also makes copying it very difficult. In fact, NO AFTERMARKET stylus manufacturer has gotten it exactly right, and none offer a nude line contact, much less elliptical, option.

For the discerning Stanton/Pickering audiophile, retipping a beloved stylus with a nude line contact diamond is the only way to go. For the winning bid or Buy It Now fee, I will inspect, evaluate, retip, analyze and performance test your newly retipped stylus. This listing includes one installation of a low mass, round shank, nude grain-oriented jewelry grade high polish USA OEM 5/75 µm hyperelliptical line contact diamond precision set into the original cantilever, or if necessary for replacement, a high quality lightweight, fine gauge, hollow, tapered, hardened aluminum alloy cantilever, yielding a truly top of the line line contact stylus.  If your original diamond is worn and your original cantilever is intact, then I will retip your original ultra low mass, thin-wall, large gauge (extremely rigid) "sapphirized" hardened aluminum cantilever.

The original later Stanton and Pickering Stereohedron diamond was a round shank 5/75 µm diamond.  Also, this diamond as a bonus is lower mass for even better tracking.

Stanton is known for superior tracking, ruler flat frequency response, ruggedness and being the favorite cartridge for radio broadcast, hence “Calibration Standard.” Each 681 was originally supplied with a little blue card containing engineer’s notes on the performance of the cartridge, which was engraved with a number as this one is, and its initial issue stylus.  Pickering, Stanton's sister company, is known for "audiophile" sound, "for those who can hear the difference," ease of use, set up, excellent tracking and truly audiophile performance.  These cartridges are always worth the effort it might take to keep them going for a long, long time and easily compete with and in many cases, better many/most cartridges made today.

I stand behind all my retipped cartridges with a 6 Month Warranty and fast and friendly customer service.

Please feel free to ask me any questions about this retipping service or any other cartridge I have for sale or whether retipping a cartridge you already own would be right for you. I retip any cartridge on commission and offer a large and growing list of options and prices.
