Plane Model Backstory:

The Yakov-3 was the best piston fighter designed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau during the Second World War. It is also considered to be the best manoeuvrable fighter of the Soviet Air Force during the war.
The Yak-3 was a light interceptor developed from the Yak-1. Born during the Great Air War at Kuban, it entered the front line of combat in late 1942 and was only equipped in large numbers in 1944, with a total production run of 4,848 aircraft. The Soviet fighter with the highest air superiority in the late Second World War, it was the Soviet fighter that could take on the German Bf 109E/F alone. It was also the parent of the Yak-15, the first mass-produced Soviet jet fighter.
The aircraft was so successful that it took on 30 Bf 109s during World War II, shooting down a total of 15 (or 24) enemy aircraft without any losses. The new German pilots, who were mainly skilled in intercepting British and American heavy bombers at high altitudes, did not dare to engage the aircraft until they had learned its characteristics.
