Plane Model Backstory:
The F4F was the primary naval fighter of the US Navy and Marine Corps at the outbreak of World War II, and was a key player in containing the Zeros and stabilising US air power in the Pacific.
One of the most famous F4Fs of the early years of the war occurred on 20 February 1942, when the USS Enterprise and USS Yorktown attacked the British bases in the Marshall and Gibraltar Islands and the Japanese base at Laboure with the USS Lexington, and Navy Captain Edward H. 'Butch' O'Hare of VF-3 Squadron under the command of the USS Lexington flew his aircraft in a five-minute fighter. In 1943 O'Hare was killed in action and Chicago's O'Hare International Airport was renamed in his honour.
