Georgien Volunteers Patch

During Germany's invasion of Russia in 1941 they across many large populations of non-ethnic russians living under their rule who saw the Germans as a sort of liberators from Soviet Russia.

Hitlers Generals took initiative with these and suggested to Hitler of using them as extra manpower in non-combat roles but as the war dragged on and German man power was spread thin across Europe, Hitler started using non-ethnic Russian POws as labourers and supply personnel in rear line roles around mid '41.

By the winter of '41 Hitler finally allowed an armed volunteer unit, that unit was Turkmenistan Volunteer Legion. By the end of 1941 Hitler allowed 3 further legions to be created, one of these being the Georgian volunteers from south-west Russia. Shortly after their formation, they were presented with the Georgien Volunteer Legion shield which was to be worn on the upper right sleeve of the tunic
