Pearl S. Buck was born in Hillsboro, WV. When she was a young child her parents relocated and Pearls youth was spent in China where she grew to love the land and its people. She became a prolific author with over 65 books to her name. In 1932 she received the Pulitzer Prize for her best known novel THE GOOD EARTH. In 1983 the USPS released a 5 cent stamp dedicated to her as part of their Great American series. I have available this First Day Issue envelope with a sketch of her likeness and the canceled stamp post marked from Hillsboro, WV. On the back  are a couple paragraphs on her life. Envelope measures 6 1/2" x 3 5/8". It was part of a collection and has been kept in storage since purchased. A nice 40 year old collectible.
