VINTAGE HUBLEY BOOKENDS – ENGLISH COACH CARRIAGE HEAVY CAST METAL PAIR

Hubley bookends dating to the 1930's. These pair of cast metal bookends represent an English carriage and horses with a coachman. 

The Hubley Manufacturing Co. was incorporated in 1894 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania by John Hubley. By 1909 they made cast-iron toys and household objects such as doorstops, bookends and bottle openers with themes that ranged from different breeds of dogs to horses and cars. The more expensive items were hand painted.

In the 1930s they changed materials to die a cast zinc alloy and made toy cars and other items.

Pictures I show is what looks like zinc showing. So I believe that these were reproduced in the 1930s from the Cast Iron ones of the 1920s. They are the same size. but these weigh over 3lbs, and the cast iron ones weigh over 5 lbs.
