The British Motor Industry 1896–1939

Daimlerways was disbanded after 1930, so it is very easy to date this brochure/suitcase as I believe the company was only set up in around 1928/29. It provided continental coach tours or pick-ups from cruise ships for wealthy clients, and the brochure and matching travelling trunk we have here is from that period- it is therefore a very rare and important part of Daimler's history. Ideal for the Daimler or vintage car enthusiast! The size of the trunk is approximately: 81 x 43 x 17 centimetres.

The condition of the trunk is obviously very well used- there is wear and tear all over, esp. at the edges with some losses to the outer covering which is a kind of grey-green colour- particularly on the bottom (see last picture).There is rust on the metal locks (no keys are presents- but they are unlocked so it wouldn't be impossible to have keys made to fit). The handle, made from laminates of thick leather is quite perished around the edges and definitely very dried out, so I will apply some autoglym leather care cream to this to stop it drying out any further- this will not the change the look of it at all, simply preserve it, but otherwise it still intact and is definitely strong enough to lift the trunk. The beautiful Daimlerways 'stickers' appears to actually be printed on, it is definitely not paper, so this trunk may have been made specially for Daimlerways? The interior has some wear, with a small area of damp damage in one area (photographed) and the ribbons on either side that join the top/bottom halves are present but have come away from the top and therefore the 'spine' of te suitcase is starting to crack on the inside lining, so this ribbons will need repair. Overall however, it still is intact and actually looks very appealing with the wear//patina- it is certainly not worn out, just had 90 years of wear!

The paper brochure has some slight yellowing and handling marks/creases all over but is very presentable and no rips, tears or edges coming away.
