Description

Object: Imari bowl with lid (chawan in Japanese) from the mid- to late Edo period (1780-1820), decorated in underglaze blue as well as overglaze enamels and gold.


Decoration: Floral.


Size: Diameter 12.5 cm (5"), height 9 cm (3.5").

Marks: Dai Min kasei nen sei (in Japanese kanji characters, underglaze blue) - a spurious Chinese Jiajing reign mark.

State: Excellent - no chips, cracks or repairs.
